Bloodleaf is a perennial herb that spreads by rhizomes. It is .5 to 1.5 meters tall and the leaves are opposite, thin, ovate and narrow at the base. The flowers are silvery white and release large amounts of pollen. It grows in low wet woods, thickets and along streams.
